On Saturday March 8, 2014 Krochet Kids intl. joined the community of Uganda to celebrate the power of women. In Uganda, International Women's Day is observed as an official holiday and the celebration is HUGE. The coolest part- KKUganda has it's very own dance team that was a part of all the action!
Each year, a festival is organized in Awach, Uganda to express the country's support for inspiring women to plan for a brighter future. The festival included a parade where women marched together, workshops that were geared towards motivating women, and various cultural events. KKUganda's dance team not only participated in the parade, but even performed for the audiences!
International Women's Day recognizes women all over the globe for their achievements and their role in changing the world we live in. Though great improvements have been made globally in women's equality and emancipation, there is still so much more to improve. We should be taking the positive messages of International Women's Day and turning them into forms of encouraging women everyday.
Here at KKi, we are so grateful to have the privilege to work along side strong, capable women who are everyday, providing not for only for a better present, but a better future.
