Lanyero Lilly was abducted and held captive by rebel forces for eight years during the war in Northern Uganda. Although she was very bright, this time in captivity made education impossible. With the money that she is earning at KKU, Lilly is providing her children with the best education possible so that they can enjoy learning in the same way that she did when she was young.

Hearing your story was absolutely inspiring and only reinforces the passion I hold for choosing a career working with African-based nonprofit organizations. For the time being, as a high school student I will wear my hat with pride and tell your story to as many people as possible! My sister spent a summer in Uganda working with Renu where she first found out about Krochet Kids, and now the passion has been passed on to me, for this Christmas she gave me a hat you had made.
