As the sixth born child to a family of 14 children in a time of war, Oliva led a very difficult life. Five of her brothers were abducted, trained as child soldiers to fight the Ugandan government, and then later killed by the rebels because of their failed attempt to escape. With determination, Oliva was persistent in pursing a job with Krochet Kids in order to support her family. She says that she is now able to fend for her family. Within two months, she has been able to provide school fees for her children who are in nursery school, feed her family, and buy basic necessities like salt, soap, and sugar which is often difficult to obtain in her area.
