Akot Jennifer’s life took a dark turn when her father passed away in 2006. Unable to afford schooling, Jennifer stayed home to help her mother take care of the youngest members of her family as uncles and cousins were taken by the war. Today, Jennifer is able not only to support herself and her mother, but also contributes to the educational funds of two other children.

“Crocheting has given me the money that I need to provide for myself and my family. My diet is balanced now, which has contributed to my improved health. My dress code is also very different—much better—than it used to be!”
