Physically and verbally abused, Nighty was forced to get married in exchange for a dowry which was to be given to her uncle. After her family was displaced into a government camp, she was unhappy and stressed because she could no longer afford food, clothing, or an education for her children. Not only has those immediate needs been met through the KKU program, but she now says that socially she has a sense of belonging with the KKU family.
