Akello Jennifer made many attempts to escape her poverty during her life including marrying young and starting her own small business, but was unable to find a sustainable source of income and always found herself in trouble again. With the money that she now earns at KKU, Jennifer is able to provide for herself and her children and no longer must risk her life to put food on the table. She hopes to continue to grow herself and her family so that they might all be successful.

I have been wearing the blue “margot” style hat that you crocheted almost constantly since I received it. It is beautifully done and every time I look in a mirror your beautiful work reminds me that this world is smaller than it is appears and that we are all interconnected.
I currently live in the central province of Kenya, facilitating a volunteer program for an organization called Flying Kites which runs a home and a primary school for orphaned children. We have also started a weaving/crocheting/beading business which employs women, much like Krochet Kids, so the work you do is close to my heart. I hope to visit you all someday soon. More importantly, I hope you are able to achieve your dreams of returning to school and sending your children to school.
