After losing her mother, Akello Dorcus spent most of her childhood neglected as her father and stepmother were far more concerned with their own children than her. Through working at KKU, Dorcus is regaining ownership and pride of her life. She hopes to use the money and financial skills she earns to start her own small business so that she can remain independent after she leaves the program.

You are so talented and God has clearly blessed you and everyone who is a part of Krochet Kids with such amazing talents. I’m forever grateful to have found out about Krochet Kids and I am so honored to be sending you this letter. Krochet Kids and you Akello, have a special place in my heart and always will because of the great things you all do. Always remember that no matter what happens God is always there to pick you up. I love the story named footprints because that’s exactly what it’s about. It’s about how sometimes we think we’re alone during tough times and we’re expecting to see 2 sets of footprints, ours and God’s, but we only see one set and we tend to think God left us alone during that time. What really happened is that one set of footprints belongs to God because he is carrying us through those tough times.
