As a young girl, Akech Santa was told that women were only meant for motherhood or prostitution and was thus deprived of hope, opportunity and education. Today, Santa is proving the naysayers wrong by supporting herself through her work as a crocheter. She is also using the money to support her children and hopes to use the money she earns to educate them through university.

Krochet Kids came to my Church in California. I was with my friend Karrie, she is like a mother to me. We were eating our dinner at the event and the Krochet Kids stand stood out to my friend we walked towards it and the interns were very sweet girls we talked for awhile and told our stories to each other. Then my friend told me to choose one and they were all soo cute but I came down to one that fit me very well and my favorite color. I told her i couldn’t accept it because of the price, she wouldn’t take no for an answer so I took the cute fitted navy blue one! I thanked her so much because I was so blessed of her to get it for me. She then told me later this: “Enjoy the hat, it blessed me to get it for you. And blessed the sweet lady who made it! Plus, you look so cute in it!” I am very glad you made this, especially for me even though you have no idea who I am you knew by making this it would make someone happy and grateful for what they have. I want to thank you dearly for putting your time and effort to make this beautiful object to help your children’s education, yourself and to even help me. Today is my 23rd Birthday. My close friend sent me the wonderful hat for my birthday. I immediately put it on and it fits so snug and warm. It’s also very soft and looks very fashionable and cute.
