YOU are the catalyst…

With the approach of our 4th Annual Gala — aptly named GALA NO. 4 — we want to touch on the significance of these events for our organization, and what they say about our unique model.

We have always attributed the growth of our organization to the people that have involved themselves in our story. It started with close friends and family who received letters from a group of passionate college kids and responded by sending checks back to support our first trip to Uganda. It was then people who purchased some of the first hats, craftily made by a small group of 10 Ugandan women. It grew to incorporate others who donated resources, time, and energy to see us reach new communities of vulnerable people.

The model we created, the staff who work here, and the products we make are all the tools to create positive and long-lasting change to individuals and their communities. But we rely on a much larger community to make something truly special. YOU are the catalyst that makes this happen.

We are a non-profit organization. We structured ourselves this way so our “success” would not be our own (speaking of those that run this organization). Instead, we want it to be absolutely evident that we define success by the people who succeed as a part of our programs. And that we all play a role in this success, whether you have bought a hat, shared about us on Facebook, or attended one of our past events.

Our events that start next week are a celebration of this. The ticket you purchase to come and your presence help support this cycle of life-change that is taking place around the world. We hope that you are able to join us in Spokane, Seattle, or Orange County in the weeks to come.

KKi is looking for a passionate and organized individual to manage production at Krochet Kids Peru. We’re looking for a productions manager who can push our production model toward greater efficiency. This person will need to wear a variety of hats , including: managing quality control teams, working with designers and lead knitters to sample new products, control inventories and manage all shipping and receiving.

It’s a full-time position, located in Lima, Peru. To apply you must be bi-lingual in Spanish & English.

Here’s a look inside the photo shoot we did with Dane Hesse at his barber shop Eagle & Pig for his WHAT WE CARRY profile. In his interview he talks about why he likes the new product addition to the KKi line and offers advice to Alanyo Teddy of N. Uganda about being a small business owner.

Joel has been a long time friend and supporter of Krochet Kids intl. and is from our hometown – Spokane, WA. When the opportunity came up to support our new project in Peru by way of our Kickstarter project, he and his wife jumped at the opportunity to get involved and leave their mark on KKi history. We released only 3 chances for people to pledge to the campaign and get to name one of our new hat styles.

They chose to name the above hat style ‘the Davis’. Learn more below…

Why did you decide to donate to the Krochet Kids Peru Kickstarter project?
I donated to the kickstarter project because I 100% believe in the work KKi is doing and because Stew is so damn handsome.

What’s the significance behind the name ‘the Davis’?
‘the Davis’ is named after Davis Lake in Usk, WA in the beautiful PNW, which is hands down the best place on earth… fact.

What do you like best about ‘the Davis?’
What I like the best about the Davis is just looking at it. It screams Northwest to me, like put on your flannel and go chop some wood.
