Inaugural Business Plan Competition in Peru

KK PERU'S BUSINESS PLAN COMPETITION

With graduation being such an important part of our model, our mentors spend a lot of time preparing program participants with the knowledge they need to make the transition away from our services. One of the key prerequisites to a successful transition is that woman have the capacity to find or create a good job that will continue to provide life-changing resources to her family for the long term. As a result we allocate more training time to business topics than any other. The cornerstone of our business training is the business plan competition because we’ve found it to be a fun way to engage people with content that can sometimes be scary or difficult to digest. We recently hosted our inaugural business plan competition in Peru, which was a special day to pause and celebrate the new business acumen that the women now have in their toolkit. But being a competition, we of course had to crown a winner. Each group set up an exhibition booth to showcase their product or service. They then pitched their business concept to a judge panel made up of successful Peruvian business men and women. The day had took on a uniquely Peruvian feel with lots of delicious food, beautiful costumes (including a bride!) and a champagne toast to cap off the evening. In the end it was the Butterfly Mini-Market that won over the judges and walked away with the grand prize. More importantly, they now have bragging rights until next year when we once again host the competition. Below are a few photos from the day. 1 2 3. 5 4 KKP_Business_Competition_4 KKP_Business_Competition_34
